Wisps
There are souls who linger in the realm of the living who are guaranteed a spot in heaven. These souls are stuck after death and need a helping hand to get them where they need to go. Wisps are unique little creatures that find these souls to guide them to heaven.
They are separated into 3 groups depending on which souls they are set to guide. Red wisps help guide children, Yellow guide adults and Blue guide the elderly.
All wisps owe allegiance to Cara, the caretaker of the staircase of the afterlife without question.
Small
Narrated by Cara
Small is a playful wisp, she has to always be in a dance figuratively speaking. When she is helping others cross over, Small will be twirling around trying to create ease. The wisps some times can be overwhelming when they tell souls it's time to cross over. Not small, she will tell others there is no time limit and they are in no danger.
Small came into being centuries ago. I've always loved her spirit of being happy with every situation. There are times when I feel down and depressed, with Small around I perk right up.
She has the power to put others to sleep to certain extent. The person has to be a little drowsy. A being who is wide awake and drank an energy drink would prove very difficult to put to sleep for her.
There are multiple reasons she is at my side, but the utmost is that she makes me smile.
Short
Narrated by Cara
Short doesn't like to take the souls of children, but those are her charges. If she could have had a choice she would have preferred seniors. When Short came into being she cried learning of her forever mission. I felt a connection with her as I comforted her in my realm. She just didn't understand why children needed to go to heaven or die at all.
Short was sent on a sensitive first assignment long ago that broke her heart. A child had fallen from a cliff and the soul refused to leave the living realm. He wanted to just linger in the dark cave. Short appeared before him and told him about his great reward. But he argued with her asking why he had to die, who was she to take him. Short vanished and cried because she didn't know what to do. She ended up running away from the soul and another wisp took the boy to heaven.
After that the community banished Short and told her to do her job in exile. I felt sorry for her and gained a friend when I decided to keep her at my side.
Tiny
Narrated by Cara
She is my over protective little fighting machine. She can't really hurt anyone physically, but she gets all frustrated when others are rude to me.
Tiny takes the souls of elders who have lost their way. I send her to work every now and then because she just gets so manic being cooped up in my private realm. Now she doesn't complain or praise work. All she really cares about, is after 5 minutes just getting back to my side.
She has also has a pension for causing mischief. I have caught her playing pranks on other wisps who try to get close to me. Personally, I find it to be kind of annoying. And she doesn't particularly care for Small and Short, because my affection is divided between them. But I make sure that Tiny behaves herself, for the most part.
